Carbon steel is often compared to cast iron but carbon steel contains less carbon than cast iron which makes it more ductile and less brittle. As a result, carbons steel cookware can be made lighter and are more pliable than cast-iron pans, but perform very similarly.

Carbon steel cookware does not have a synthetic non-stick coating. However, by developing a layer of seasoning, you can achieve a natural non-stick cooking surface. Each Carbon Steel Roaster is pre-seasoned with organic coconut oil to prevent oxidation during storage and shipping. We encourage you to season your cookware prior to use by washing off the coconut oil, drying the piece thoroughly, and then proceeding with your seasoning method and oil of choice.
