The History of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
Rehoboth Beach, located in Delaware, began as a small fishing village in the late 19th century. The area was originally inhabited by Native Americans and later settled by European colonists. In 1873, the town was officially established when it was incorporated as a Methodist camp meeting site, attracting families seeking a recreational getaway.
The arrival of the railroad in the 1880s significantly contributed to the town's growth, making it more accessible to visitors from urban centers. In response to this influx, hotels, cottages, and businesses began to spring up, transforming Rehoboth into a popular seaside resort.
