Frequently Asked Questions

Explore frequently asked questions about our real estate advisor service

IS THERE A FEE FOR REAL ESTATE ADVISOR SERVICES?

Real Estate Advisors are paid based on professional services rendered and are always negotiable. Typically, fees are levied as a percentage of the gross sale price of the acquired property.

WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS ARE BEST FOR REAL ESTATE ADVISORS?

Real Estate Advisors are best positioned to help you find a building lot or parcel for your next custom home, and may be achieved through acquiring raw land, tear downs, or building lots in real estate developments. Real estate advisors may also be employed to analyze market data, which may be helpful during the process of searching for a building lot or identifying opportunity in a local market.

I ALREADY WORK WITH A REALTOR, MAY I ALSO EMPLOY A REAL ESTATE ADVISOR?

Real Estate Advisors operate under the ethical and legal guidelines that underpin all Realtor activity in the United States. As such, a Real Estate Advisor may not provide professional services with a customer who already has a formal relationship with a Realtor. Real Estate Advisors fully support the principles of the Fair Housing Act and the Equal Opportunity Act.

ARE ALL OF THE HOMES FEATURED ON YOUR WEBSITE FOR SALE?

No. The homes featured on our website are not necessarily all for sale. However, when certain homes on the website are for sale — either on the public or private market — they will be designated as such. To learn more about architecturally designed homes for sale, send us a note.

I AM A REALTOR. HOW CAN I BECOME A MEMBER OF YOUR REAL ESTATE ADVISOR PROGRAM?

Realtors may inquire about becoming a Real Estate Advisor, particularly if they are a member of the Sotheby’s International Realty network and have a demonstrated track record of success in one of the Mid-Atlantic region’s major markets, such as Washington, D.C, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, West Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.
